The Cocoa Room Owners Create A New Chocolate Sensation (ContentDesk) June 1, 2005 -- It's mid-afternoon and you're craving chocolate. Specifically, you want a candy-coated nubbin of cocoa bliss, perhaps surrounding a peanut or almond. "I want some M&Ms," you think. Or do you? What you're craving has a name beyond the brand name; they're called dragees (DRAH-jeez). And while these little morsels are most commonly connected with that letter-stamped candy, there's a whole dragee world outside of the rack at the drugstore.
Specialty chocolatier The Cocoa Room is making a splash nationally with their line of dragees in dazzling colors and varieties. Slick shells in a multitude of colors—pastels, primaries and even metallics—surround almonds, pistachios, sunflower seeds, and even blueberry, cherry and apricot gems. Suzanne Weaver and Annastacia Hubbard, owners of The Cocoa Room have created a sensation for chocolate lovers everywhere with a new line of
dragees. They have added a unique visual effect to their chocolate and packaging that is simple and stylish, customable with a dazzling array of colors for any holiday or occasion. "We just wanted to do something that wasn't frilly, yet was modern and contemporary [with chocolates," said co-owner Annastacia Hubbard.
The idea has worked well; The Cocoa Room has provided custom chocolates to shows and parties thrown by Tiffany's, Chanel and Michael Jordan. Look for them in O magazine and InStlye this summer too. The Cocoa Room chocolates are available at Kitson's, W Hotel's, LOUIS BOSTON, Chicago's MCA gift store & through Chealsa Market Basket- NYC.
